Sorry, but we are unable to deliver Rocky but would be happy for you to pick him up and roll him away (please mind our neighbours when you do) :-)
Highest bid (should there be one) gets personalised photo with Rocky (when cordon lifts) and of course a wonderful addition to your home.
On a serious note: ALL proceeds will go to ChCh Earthquake Relief Fund. :-)

Questions and answers
Can you please advise on ability to break-down for
shipping and subsequent re-assembly. Not sure I need all of it but
perhaps a trillion pebbles and I can on-sell the balance (for a dollar a
'throw').
Does it run on batteries or is it self-propelling (gravity)?
clax (60 )
1:58 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Dear reader, happy for you to break down on site, but please mind the furniture.
Rocky is self propelled, likes to rock and roll and is looking for a new roll!
2:12 pm, Mon 28 Feb
I assume the house comes with Rocky? It's just that it
is such a nice display stand, so it would be a shame to separate the
two!
scott2ride (66 )
1:59 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Happy to consider the house as part of the package, it
is currently hillside but if you wait long enough mother nature may
bring it further down the valley.
2:13 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Does it come with an instruction manual? Well done Phil
- Your guys are doing a fantastic job helping everyone. You should be
very proud of your team.
kaysees (173 )
2:10 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Since when do you need an instruction manual for a male
rock? He has simple needs, such as a weekly "roll in the hay", a moss
trim once a month and an annual visit to the rocktor :-)
Thanks for your support K - yes indeed they are a wicked team :-)
2:16 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Seller Comment: Oh and BTW: his favourite radio station
is of course.........wait for it...........wait for it...........THE
ROCK!!!
2:17 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Does his drug habit cause any problems? Though I guess being permanently stoned may keep him calm!
scott2ride (66 )
2:40 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Drug habit? What drug habit? This is one very straight rock buddy!
3:15 pm, Mon 28 Feb
The photography is brilliant and use of light amazing do
you have formal training? Also does Rocky have siblings ?I need a
matching pair.
markwgw (4 )
3:21 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Thanks for that feedback, as a matter of fact Rocky does
have a couple of brothers that are waiting up the back of our place.
Must credit the photo to my neighbour who is a damn good man that is as
handy with a camera as he is with a bottle of gin.
3:55 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Hi Phil, the rock looks awfully shiny are you sure it has not been pre-owned?
kincare (64 )
3:23 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Nope - just the one owner for the last 65 million(ish) years.
3:56 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Would love to buy rocky but unfortunately we just don't have the room for him. Great auction.
blacktooth1 (57 )
3:36 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Thanks for looking - spread the word if you can :-)
3:57 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Not to be a killjoy, or anything, but, wouldn't it have
been better to have built on top of Rocky, rather than under him?
Seriously, though, good luck with the auction, you deserve some light
relief in your lives.
pge (104 )
4:05 pm, Mon 28 Feb
haha thanks for your support :-)
4:25 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Rocky says thanks, he thinks he is pretty cool as well.
4:26 pm, Mon 28 Feb
What sort of council permits do you need to have?? I'm sure there must be some :-)
milo134 (25 )
4:20 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Yep - you need a 4017 form filled out in triplicate.
This is called an "Application for homing a large rock". This form must
then be taken to at least 6 council offices to be approved by 6
different departments and then into ECAN for environmental approval.
Once complete you must apply to the SPCR (society for protection of
rocks) for a housing permit. For a small fee I can help you with this
:0(
4:29 pm, Mon 28 Feb
My 3yo little princess has nearly worn out her pet rock.
Could you please advise an estimated shipping cost to Auckland.
Cheers, and good luck with the auction.
techguy2 (232 )
4:25 pm, Mon 28 Feb
May I be so bold as to ask what she has been doing with
it? Cost to Auckland.....hmmmm what do you prefer - airfreight or
normal parcel post?
4:31 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Hi Phil, I assume that Rocky has been House Trained?? Good Luck with your Auction, an excellent idea!
r.a.proctor (1508 )
4:42 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Yep, fully house trained. Although due to his size things can get a little testy if he is in a hurry!
4:45 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Brilliant :-)
5:24 pm, Mon 28 Feb
This is a serious question . . .
what was Rocky's previous job, before he became a Landscape Feature?
athena2 (390 )
4:56 pm, Mon 28 Feb
He was a top rock star of course :-)
5:26 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Hi, Great to see you did not loose your sense of humor
in the quake! best of luck with this auction and a huge hug from all of
us here up in Auckland feeling totally useless unable to physically
help. XXXXXX
quickenden1 (5663 )
4:59 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Thanks buddy. Appreciate the support - moral, financial,
spiritual or whatever you can give. We are a tough bunch down here,
especially Rocky!
5:28 pm, Mon 28 Feb
yeah - me too. not sure what floor polish to use though.
5:29 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Hi Phil, I live in Australia. Most of the rocks here are
very old so a strong, young, volcanic boulder like him would do really
well here. I'm mean he's no Uluru but with some training and plenty of
bbqs and beers he could soon be a giant among rocks. Maybe even play for
the Tahs. Any chance you could give him a push down toward Lyttelton
Harbour cos me and Trev could bring the tinny over and pick him up from
there. cheers gw
grunta108 (new )
5:21 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Jeeze GW, he's good mate but I am not sure about the
Tahs just yet. I'm just trying to enROLL him into Sumner Seniors for
this season. Plus, haven't you already got a Rocky playing for the Tahs?
5:33 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Gidday Phil, I was scratching my head trying to think of
something funny to post on your auction but theres nothing funny about
losing your home. In saying that good on ya for doing this and putting
some perspective back into our lives... Love to catch up with you and
shout you a beer or two, yes you heard right, my shout!! Cheers John
gebs (350 )
5:25 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Thanks big fella. Sorry about the ECAN comment :-) And yep I'll take you up on that beer (or 5) :-)
5:35 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Brilliant auction.I wish you all the best.
I bet that big boy gatherers no moss
* hums the theme tune from Rocky *
smoocher (1253 )
5:27 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Actually, I do have a photo of him getting Stallone's autograph! Sly was bowled over :-)
5:36 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Did you invite him in or did he just bould on through no
invitation, did you feel a lill boulded when he just made his
appearance.
t.gypsy (17 )
5:35 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Trust me, when you stand 2m tall, 2m wide and 3.5m long you don't need an invitation.
5:37 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Well done what a hilarious auction!!! I am now a huge fan of Rocky! Good luck with the fundraising :)
tja12 (31 )
5:36 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Cheers :-)
5:38 pm, Mon 28 Feb
I'm pretty good for rocks at the moment but you don't
happen to have a liquifaction water-feature for sale do you? I could do
with silty whirlpool at my front gate to keep the undesirables out.
battgirl (256 )
5:43 pm, Mon 28 Feb
I wish, I wish I wish I had one of those as well
8:59 pm, Mon 28 Feb

9:21 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Great auction Phil. Awesome to see that even when a kiwi
is stuck between a 'rock and a hard place' there can still be a silver
lining. Hope you and family are okay mate. All the best for the auction
:-)
mckinleydavid (38 )
6:13 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Thanks mate. Appreciate your support.
9:03 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Absolutely priceless! Any chance that whoever wins the
auction might start up a fan club for The Incredible Rocky. For a small
fee we could all join and maybe get an email certificate as proof of
membership. It would be affordable for everyone and you could raise
thouands more after the initial auction.
GOOD LUCK GUYS! YOU'RE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!XXXXXXXXXXX
dollmakernz (207 )
6:20 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Now thats a damn good idea.

9:06 pm, Mon 28 Feb

9:23 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Was he originally the Star in Rocky Horror Picture Show?
If so can I get his autograph before he is shipped out again?
Best of luck with the auction and in getting a new home, thoughts and
prayers with you all.
odin5 (112 )
6:48 pm, Mon 28 Feb

9:07 pm, Mon 28 Feb

puggy13 (36 )

9:08 pm, Mon 28 Feb
thanks heaps
9:29 pm, Mon 28 Feb
great auction but i must query the "new" labelling. .
.i'm sure that rock is thousands of years old. . .and as for previous
owners. . .a dinosaur could have used it as an ottoman. . .laughing in
the face of adversity- good on you, good luck!
nik-nak (104 )
7:45 pm, Mon 28 Feb
fair call - he is about 60 million years old - but he is still new to me
9:10 pm, Mon 28 Feb
its the eye of the tiger, its the cream of the fight....
8:27 am, Tue 1 Mar
lol i haven't stopped giggling for a long while, you
have got such an awesome sense of humor in such a time for you a your
family, Rocky is now famous in England, Canada and New York state. If
you ever in Timaru think a few beers would be on the agenda, Keep
strong.
welderman (308 )
8:04 pm, Mon 28 Feb

9:20 pm, Mon 28 Feb

9:25 pm, Mon 28 Feb

rudyve (26 )
8:09 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Balboa of course :-)
9:40 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Can you please post some more photos of Rocky from all

tallglass (10 )

9:36 pm, Mon 28 Feb

for schist etc.looking forward to hearing from you
grey wacky
imaweka (8 )
8:48 pm, Mon 28 Feb
No probs - there is a "stud rock" fee though. he needs a bit more than a rock garden though - he is a big boy
9:26 pm, Mon 28 Feb
yep - it WAS my house!
9:28 pm, Mon 28 Feb
sure is - requires a VERY big dirt box though
9:34 pm, Mon 28 Feb
I am currently building a glacier as part of my backyard
tribute to Antarctica, how much of a face lift would rocky need to look
like ice?
eaudelune (9 )
9:28 pm, Mon 28 Feb
quite a bit. would take a whole lot of white paint you know
9:33 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Hey Phil, love your work but am not sure I could handle
rocky in person, he is extremely photogenic tho - would you consider
putting another auction up with a buy now of $50 for the digital image
photo ? I could put him on my wall
eegam (68 )
9:46 pm, Mon 28 Feb
yep - although you do get your photo taken with him if you win - and he is charming in person
9:47 pm, Mon 28 Feb
This is so much better than the washing machine sale
from a while ago. Well done for bringing a smile to our faces at such a
sad time. I owe you a beer too!
elegance20d (41 )
9:48 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Fanks :-)

gizago2 (170 )
10:18 pm, Mon 28 Feb
so do I - thanks for your support
8:27 am, Tue 1 Mar
Thank god you have found my pet rock!!! I have been
looking for her everywhere and by the way her name is Wanda. I am really
sorry about this as she does tend to get a little excited when the
ground shakes and as you can see likes to roll around to peoples
houses!! She is very affectionate and loves people. Normally scratches
at the door for attention but obviously this time she got a little
carried away. I do apologise for the mess and she sure is hell is in
trouble when she gets home!!
gonzo13 (4 )
10:26 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Noooooooooo - its not Wanda - Rocky has man rock bits!!!!
8:29 am, Tue 1 Mar
Is Rocky prepared to commit to a "stable" relationship or is he the sort that takes off when things get shakey?
cmw1 (183 )
10:36 pm, Mon 28 Feb
he was very unstable a week ago, but thanks to trauma
support and a few martinis (shaken not stirred) he is bearing up.
8:32 am, Tue 1 Mar
Hi Phil, have you trained him? To sit? Roll over? Oh and
have you got a leash so I can take him for walks or do I need to buy
one myself? Haha you are great and so is your cult pet rock!
jonomuso (99 )
10:49 pm, Mon 28 Feb
I could handle the sit bit - will leave the roll over command to you :-)
8:33 am, Tue 1 Mar
Is Rocky related to Rocky Ponting? I don't think it's a coincidence that they're both pretty good bowlers...
sck19 (9 )
11:31 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Well some bloke wanted him for the Warratahs so I think maybe rocky Elsom.
8:33 am, Tue 1 Mar
Love it!!! ...Does it come in RED & BLACK? ... (Good
on ya! Keep up the good work... All the best & stay safe)
vixelpix (2 )
11:32 pm, Mon 28 Feb
HELL YES!!!!!!
8:34 am, Tue 1 Mar
We have a 'natural water' feature that mades it's own
entrance too recently and I wonder if she has been influenced by Rocky
on making such an unannounced arrival? I think Rocky would look perfect
sitting below the our water feature surrounded by some liquidfaction!
It could be a memorial to Christchurch! On a more serious note I think
you need to have a wee 'chat' to Rocky about his behaviour and his
affect on others! (Awesome Auction ;) )
needmoretime (199 )
11:43 pm, Mon 28 Feb
Thanks and I hope you guys are all okay.
8:34 am, Tue 1 Mar
Hey- do you think you should make this 'to approved home
only'? there are people out there who would not know how to look after a
magnificent rock like this- he might end up at the RSPCR- abandoned.
Good on ya mate
f4turtles (285 )
11:47 pm, Mon 28 Feb
yeah - I am starting to get concerned about some of the
"candidates" appearing here. However, the Rockster is a pretty good
judge of character - after all he picked us!
8:36 am, Tue 1 Mar
I am a single woman and would like to know if Rocky is
interested in a serious relationship. He has some traits of my ex, e.g
no personality, stoned all the time, sits on his arse and does nothing
and I guarantee the tv remote is under him somewhere. This makes me
believe that him and I could enter into a rock-solid relationship. Also
do we have to trim his moss or do you think he could handle been
waxed??
maid4pleasure (159 )
1:48 am, Tue 1 Mar
Hahaha - Brilliant - come on gents - is there a reply to this?
8:37 am, Tue 1 Mar
You rock! Rocky rocks! Christchurch rocks!!!! But
seriously . . . I'm guessing that Rocky's favourite music is . . . .
Rock and Roll?
kiwidelight (783 )
2:41 am, Tue 1 Mar
Actually - eye of the tiger by survivor
8:38 am, Tue 1 Mar
what is rocky like with with liquefaction? has he been socialized with liquefaction?
familia1 (299 )
6:43 am, Tue 1 Mar
I would say no - he is not a big drinker
8:38 am, Tue 1 Mar
Can I just say you are so awesome and hilarious, hope
you and your family are ok. Good luck for the auction and your future.
Cath - Rolleston
laurenmia (86 )
8:15 am, Tue 1 Mar
Thanks Cath - we are ok and as you can se very,
very, very, very lucky. So humour seems appropriate in this
circumstance.
8:39 am, Tue 1 Mar
Mate, that rocks's a female. Look at the facts man.
At the start she really bowled you over, knocked you for six I reckon.
I bet she made a lot of noise when she came eh?
Then it when downhill and things began to fall apart.
Now of course, she's taken half your house and you're subject to a restraining order.
And she needs to go on a diet...

thanks for those extra photos - we were about to bid as
we think 'Rocky' just looks SOOOOO cute but I can't believe that digging
he does in your back yard! How can you stand all that dirt?! Sorry, no
room for such a bad rock at our place (well trained pets don't normally
make such a mess you know...)
elloello (26 )
9:38 am, Tue 1 Mar
thanks for that - cute was not a word that sprang to
mind when I first saw him, but he has grown on us. As I have said
before, he does need a large litter tray.
9:57 am, Tue 1 Mar
You know, now you come to mention it, although she has
put on a few pounds ... she used to work the red light district, thats
definitely Rocksanne
eegam (68 )
9:45 am, Tue 1 Mar
rocksanne, you don't have to put on the red light, those
days are over, you don't have to sell your body to the night...
10:03 am, Tue 1 Mar
Have you had Rocky drug tested? If you don't mind me saying, he looks a little stoned in a couple of the photos.
andieman (55 )
10:08 am, Tue 1 Mar
I believe he was once addicted to "crack" but is now on the wagon
10:26 am, Tue 1 Mar
Hi
No question just amazement at your ability to so brilliantly answer all the immensely humourous questions asked. Good on you!
pamela8 (76 )
10:21 am, Tue 1 Mar
thanks pamela - never done this before but it sure is a
good brain / finger workout. come to think of it given my gym is
kackered, Trade Me could be my main source or workout!!
11:18 am, Tue 1 Mar
I hope that the final bid will help towards the room
improvement. Can people buy some of the smaller ones that have broken
off? I think that you won’t need to post these to any bidders they could
be moved outside to remember the Rock. I would buy a small one for $10.
skinny_g (25 )
10:26 am, Tue 1 Mar
thats a good idea - and thanks heaps for your support
11:17 am, Tue 1 Mar
Judging by the size of the "skid mark" he has left, I say he is definitely a male.
Love your auction - awesome

now whats this "she" business all about?
11:15 am, Tue 1 Mar
I'd love to have Rocky come and stay with us, but he is so big I think he would give my wife the schist!
scott2ride (66 )
10:46 am, Tue 1 Mar
he sure would....he gave us the major schist as well
11:04 am, Tue 1 Mar
Is it true that Rocky has kicked his drug habit and is no longer addicted to 'crack'?
scott2ride (66 )
10:52 am, Tue 1 Mar
correct. he has indeed cracked the crack
11:04 am, Tue 1 Mar
fanks :-)
11:13 am, Tue 1 Mar
You never disclosed Rocky already had a family!!!! I
assume his infant child that I saw in the pram would have to go with the
deal? And Im not sure I want the hassle of the child support.
scott2ride (66 )
11:04 am, Tue 1 Mar
awww come on scotty - you have 3 - whats another little mouth eh?
11:06 am, Tue 1 Mar
Is the child in the pram called 'Pebbles' by any chance? Or is it "Bam Bam" ?
scott2ride (66 )
11:05 am, Tue 1 Mar
what do u think?
11:14 am, Tue 1 Mar
Looking at that hole in the roof he must have experience
being a bouncer - thought of setting him up in your back yard to stop
his mates crashing your next party?

11:08 am, Tue 1 Mar
now thats a good idea ....maybe a black caps role awaits eh?
11:13 am, Tue 1 Mar
well he sure as hell rocked ours....:-). glad u like it, thanks for your support.
11:15 am, Tue 1 Mar
Is caring for a blind rock any harder than caring for a seeing rock? Does Rocky need a seeing eye rock??
lillangelstacey (119 )
11:20 am, Tue 1 Mar
well he is not blind (I think), so a seeing eye rock may
not be required. However, he does have a noticeable limp so I wonder
if he needs a walking rock?
11:26 am, Tue 1 Mar
he sure was

You are amazing! And loved the comments by

your wit. Keep it up, good luck and God Bless.

thank you for your support :-)
3:33 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I must say, having crashed an exclusive party, trashing
the place and just generally being obnoxious, I can see the rock-star in
him. Although intrusive, he does crack me up. However, Rocky's
boulderous personality would eventually become like a stone in my
landlords shoe, which I don't think he will appreciate. Also, I would
say that I am not exactly on steady ground with the local council so
unfortunately I am between a rock and a hard place regarding the
procurement of permits. All the best!
lowrona1 (32 )
2:11 pm, Tue 1 Mar
well you know we can help with the paperwork if you
change your mind....I have a team practicing their paper, rock, scissors

all you guys :-). And many of you have offered me free beer...and some
of you want to marry my rock!
3:39 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I reckon you should pick him up....trust me, I'll help....honest :-)
3:39 pm, Tue 1 Mar
What's Rocky's star sign? I'm guessing Taurus... guess
it's the stubborn refusing to budge part of his personality + the
ability to make the home look welcoming and comfy... Great auction!!
owly (196 )
3:05 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Well I'm a Saggi and he definitely is not one of us :-)
3:40 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I say shift rocky to the canterbury plains. Paint it red and black - call it "heres rock".
turtle25 (13 )
3:06 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Turtle - you just know thats a dumb idea, he has been
offered a contract with the Warratahs but i would prefer Toddy to pick
him up first....TODDY.....WHERE ARE YOU....????
3:42 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Thanks Heidi - assume that kiss was for Rocky - I'm taken?
3:43 pm, Tue 1 Mar

Kate, Kate, Kate.......listen very carefully as I shall
only say this once. I have answered this one several times....yes he

way when he is in a hurry
3:46 pm, Tue 1 Mar
fan enough to pony up some dosh I hope!
3:46 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Awesome..I have not laughed so much in a long time. I

Keep your spirits up and keep up the good work!
haylee9 (414 )
3:37 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Well.....have I got a deal for you Haylee...house
trained, lovable and just a tad overweight. Come on, wouldn't you just
love him to come rolling out to greet you when you get home every day??
3:48 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Does Rocky have a facebook page? He should get
one...his English aristocrat uncle Stonehenge has been looking for him
on all the social networking sites!
talk2me_01 (42 )
3:42 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I have a team of one working on this as you, um I, um someone speaks.

3:49 pm, Tue 1 Mar
So that is where my mother-in-law ended up! She said she
was coming to visit. I told her we had moved and just made up an
address in the South Island. Inadvertently I must've given them yours.
Sorry about that. She will only stay a couple of months, drink all your
wine, eat all your food and sit in your favourite chair. She is a bit
heavy-handed tho' I expect you have noticed that. She has lost a bit of
weight. Good Luck.
albie11 (13 )
3:54 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I really hope your MIL does not surf trade me buddy :-). thanks for the humour
4:30 pm, Tue 1 Mar
only limited by the number of facelifts one can have I believe :-)
4:31 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Bloody beauty mate!!
would you consider a swap, I'll swap you three kids who are eating me
out of house and home, for your house eating rcok, think yours might be
a bit cheaper to own and operate
whosyahobbit (10 )
4:01 pm, Tue 1 Mar
dunno bout that...he has some nasty habits
4:37 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Rocky looks very round, in Chinese is called yuan which
is also used as a unit of currency in China. So hence will bring the
winner of the auction great fortune. He is quite obviously a symbol of
strength and endurance. A prized beauty. I want I want!
bubbles627 (6 )
4:11 pm, Tue 1 Mar
bubbles you can have, have, have...you know what to do :-)
4:38 pm, Tue 1 Mar
As a native Dunedinite, I'm really feeling for you.
Have thoroughly enjoyed reading this, and have posted to facebook :)
kellee236 (36 )
4:11 pm, Tue 1 Mar
thanks for this
4:38 pm, Tue 1 Mar
It looks like its a breeding rock (that looks like a
little stoner in the pram). I am wondering what this male rock is doing
with a child... is there a girlfriend included in the auction? I dont
want any more drama in my life. I'm after a single rock so possibly not
interested in this one. Does he have any single friends?
lekker22 (160 )
4:16 pm, Tue 1 Mar
thats not his child...that was him AS a child
4:39 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Do you think he would pass the audition for The Lord of
the Rocks or The Hobbit? Could he get a green card for the USA and star
as The Thing (Fantastic Four)?
kincare (64 )
4:17 pm, Tue 1 Mar
easy peezy lemon squeezy! He has been in LOTR - you can see him in one of the shots in the attached photos.
4:40 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Not to be rude! but does he have any - you know like,
problems?? he seems to be throwing his weight around a bit! Nothing
worse than a rock with a chip on the shoulder! seems he can't let you go
as he wants to be in the house all the time. I'd bid but i cant afford
to have a rock with a bad attitude. Good luck though!!
niteowl1 (253 )
4:20 pm, Tue 1 Mar
he is a vegetarian....hang on... is that a problem?
4:40 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I suppose you were pretty boulder over when the little tyke arrived
trading_gibsons (4 )
4:32 pm, Tue 1 Mar
we were thanks, just did not expect him to come home so soon!
4:41 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Would you describe his personality as ; disturbed, a go
getter,a shaker & a mover or is he a high roller? Does he have a
good attendance record or is he more of a skipping stone?
sit1 (1228 )
4:33 pm, Tue 1 Mar
high roller - he came from the top of the cliffs
4:41 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Hubby a lil concerned over ownership of rocky are u sure there will be no future claims on him
westie06 (31 )
4:36 pm, Tue 1 Mar
possibly iwi as I have not checked with them yet
4:54 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Is this the same Rocky that lead that underground band, the City Rockers?
kremin (75 )
4:36 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Nope - sorry bud
4:54 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Does he actually do anything or just sit around and Greywacke off all day?
ab747 (191 )
4:41 pm, Tue 1 Mar
yep, he watches quite a bit of telly - Flintstones of course
4:55 pm, Tue 1 Mar
as long as the money goes to the earthquake appeal I am cool with that
4:55 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Sorry,
I forgot to ask is he old enough for rockyroad icecream yet- plenty in the freezer!!
trading_gibsons (4 )
4:43 pm, Tue 1 Mar
yes, yes, yes - he loves it!!!!!
4:56 pm, Tue 1 Mar
would like to check if this rock is from pet-free, smoke-free home?
dozychook (48 )
4:46 pm, Tue 1 Mar
we have an ageing Labrador and a very hyperactive Burmese kitten - they don't smoke and nether do we :-)
4:57 pm, Tue 1 Mar
You're taking the mickey? in one photo Rocky is in the
garage and in another he's moved to the hallway. Are you using trick
rockograhpy to mislead bidders? or do you have two?
kenp4 (33 )
4:47 pm, Tue 1 Mar
ahhhh - you are a smart cookie you are. Actually one
view is his face - the other is his butt. I'll leave you to work out
which is which
4:58 pm, Tue 1 Mar
hmmmm - let us not go down that path!
5:12 pm, Tue 1 Mar
This is Rocky the rock,
he's actually shaped as a ball.
He is all alone,
as the picture has shown
right inside the hall.
persia3 (121 )
4:49 pm, Tue 1 Mar
A poet amongst us!!!
4:59 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Do you have any others of similar or larger size for
sale? I'm hoping to build a life size replica of stonehenge in our
backyard.
lykaestria (87 )
4:49 pm, Tue 1 Mar
hmmmm - he is the wrong shape and is likely to get grumpy if you cut him up
4:59 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Would you like me to arrange a band to come and play The Stones been Rolled Away, when it is taken away?
honest-reliable (127 )
4:52 pm, Tue 1 Mar
lets find the man, woman, beast, corporation to take him
away first - then we can talk media rights - I am his agent after all!
5:00 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Rocky!, Janet!, Dr Scott!, Janet!, Brad!, Rocky!, Janet!, Dr Scott!, Rocky!
claw_ (70 )
4:52 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Its just a jump to the right........
5:01 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Whilst I love the whole sitting around being a rock
concept I think you are looking at this wrong. From your photos, the
jump point to landing point would indicate a great career in athletics.
I don't think the Olympiad has an upper limit on age so 'millions of
years' would be fine. Check out his form for triple jump too. I would
contact Nike directly for a sponsorship deal.
You could be selling the best thing that ever landed at your doorstep...
sorry ... garage. Take care.
Si
bassb (9 )
4:57 pm, Tue 1 Mar
yes...damn good point Si. NIKE, come in NIKE.
5:07 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Blimey!!! You sure started the boulder rolling with this
one. I'm beginning to wonder if Rocky is playing some mind control now.
Your poor little pinkies must be almost worn down with the avalanche of
questions. That photo in particular of the rest of the gang makes them
look ... well... they look like they're up to no good. OMG I've just
sent you a question! See, his power's growing!! Throw a blanket over
him!!
Before we all end up doing his bidding I wish you & yours all the
best.
thenewts (30 )
4:58 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Thanks bud....yep fingers are glued to the kb and the
boulder sure is rolling...but this is as much therapy for me as it is
for the many good folks of CHCH.
5:08 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Did Rocky have travel insurance for his last journey? If
so, can this be extended when he moves again? Don't want him getting
injured in transit, do we?
quane1 (2 )
5:02 pm, Tue 1 Mar
No he didn't but he sure will have now he is a real rock
star. As they say a star is born every 15 minutes and this is his
moment of fame.
5:11 pm, Tue 1 Mar
first time i have smiled in a week ~ hope all is well
down there ~ you have friends all over the counrty ~ yes even
aucklanders . ps rock not my colour lol
springboard1 (171 )
5:21 pm, Tue 1 Mar
thanks springboard1. I'm not an Auck basher, in fact I
have an office and some fabulously awesome staff there :-). Thanks for
the support and "go the blues" :-)
5:26 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Hey there...great auction!! The company I work for may
bid on this. Just to keep the beancounters happy...is it possible to pay
the winning fee directly to an 'official charity'?
hire-a-home (899 )
5:22 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Hi team. Yep no problem. i intend to keep this thing
pretty open and honest. I own my own IT company with 50ish staff and
they are all watching me to make sure I don't take off to Argentina with
the cash :-)
5:28 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I am looking for a rock to hide under. Rocky looks like
my kind of Rock and could double as Hit Rock/Rock Guard. Can you
arrange clearance and flights for me and Russian nurse? signed: Muammar
Muhammad al-Gaddafi, Libya (love the humor to get you through this
gave me a badly needed laugh. If you and the family get to Wellington
there are some cold ones in the fridge for you)
xmac (135 )
5:24 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Ahhhh - its you! Are you the chap with the hat that has
been hanging around my rock? Now listen to me mate, we Kiwi's do
things differently down here. Get thee onto Trade me and show us some
of them oil dollars - $20 billion should help. Thanks mate and love to
awesome Wellywood :-)
5:32 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Is he well behaved? The pics suggest he might be a bit
rough on the furniture and the paintwork, not to mention digging up the
garden. This behaviour should have been trained out of him when he was a
pebble.
freedomaira320 (81 )
5:26 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Yeah sorry about that. I should have taken him to
pebble classes. My fault entirely. Can you recommend any adult
therapy?
5:33 pm, Tue 1 Mar
cook me some eggs woman....whoops sorry wrong movie
5:38 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I heard a dark rumour that Rocky may have a criminal
record. According to my source, a somewhat elderly taxi driver named E.
Presley, his nickname on the inside was Jailhouse Rock.
nzyowie (441 )
5:44 pm, Tue 1 Mar
well come to think of it - he does have some Blue Suede Shoes!!!!
5:46 pm, Tue 1 Mar
What a fantastic idea this auction is. Now will Trade Me donate the commission from it?
pennymiller (145 )
5:51 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Hi Penny, I hope so :-). Actually, given the number of
people and media exposure I am pretty sure they will help - I have
spoken to them and they seem a great team.
5:54 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I love what you've done with the place!! That whole
'invading rubble' look is tres chic!!! seriously... 'you' are the ones
who ROCK!!! What you're doing is doubly fantastic, first you gave
everybody a much needed laugh and secondly you are giving to a truly
noble cause :) Props!!!!
waterbrook (17 )
5:59 pm, Tue 1 Mar
yes - I think we may be seeing this new look in
Fendalton / Parnell / Remmers / Khandalla soon :-). Thanks for your
support.
6:15 pm, Tue 1 Mar
absolutely NOT :-)
6:15 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I'm sure this would make a great story for Rolling Stone magazine. Rock on my man and leave no stone unturned!!
pablocookie (148 )
6:28 pm, Tue 1 Mar
hey Pablo...thanks man...look fwd to some gin infused evenings in Taupo to come eh :-)
6:48 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Hi, I had something similar in my house for seventeen
years. Sent him to university, maybe u could start up a scholarship fund
for rocky. I can now talk to and get replys from mine now which I
couldn't when it was in my house and judging by the size urs will empty
the pantry like mine did!!!! Good luck
toot11 (120 )
6:33 pm, Tue 1 Mar
haha...brilliant. I'm hoping Rocky will move on soonish :-)
6:45 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I don't have a question but do think that you are a
fantastically strong person to be able to have such a great sense of
humor at a time like this for you down there. It just shows how strong
you Canty people are ! :o) We're sorry we cant be down there to help
physically but are sending our thoughts and prayers (and donations) your
way. Hope your friends and family are all safe.
wolfskitten (20 )
6:35 pm, Tue 1 Mar
thanks very much for your support. I think we are all
strong when we have to be - no matter where we live. We have had enough
tears for a lifetime so some laughter is most definitely in order.
6:47 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Has Rocky been blessed by the local Kaumatua? Are there
likely to be any issues with Ngai Tahu if Rocky is moved to the North
Island?
hutchy6 (238 )
6:51 pm, Tue 1 Mar
No and quite likely now he is famous. However, if the
NT was to pony up some dosh they are welcome to have him...and all his
bad habits.
6:52 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Is photo number 6 Rocky as a baby? He was a cute wee
fulla. I can see he has definitely been eating his greens because he's
grown soo much. I have to say he could do with a lesson in manners just
barging in like that unannounced.
lindamoo (46 )
7:09 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Just like his dad I always say
8:30 am, Wed 2 Mar
My sister is interested but only if the rock is less
than 10,000 years old. Do you have an approximate age of the rock?
kim.day (95 )
7:16 pm, Tue 1 Mar
65,000,000 years I think
8:30 am, Wed 2 Mar
Thank you for such an entertaining auction. Although
sorry it is at your expense, the sense of humour is an amazing thing!
Our hearts go out to you all in CHCH! Now what about a game of
boulderdash?
lorrymc (42 )
7:18 pm, Tue 1 Mar
thanks very much :-)
8:31 am, Wed 2 Mar
Any sign of time capsule. If you can find one it might fetch more than Rocky himself.
currie3 (22 )
7:19 pm, Tue 1 Mar
I wish!!!
8:31 am, Wed 2 Mar
Is rocky appreciative of his owners? Or does he take things for granite?
charlie832 (5 )
7:24 pm, Tue 1 Mar
very much for granite me thinks
8:31 am, Wed 2 Mar
OMG! I am just such a huuuuuuge fan of Rocky!!!!!
Please please please post a link to his facebook page cos I can't find
the right one. Me and my friends are total rock groupies!!!!
kiwileprechaun (99 )
7:41 pm, Tue 1 Mar
He now has a facebook page - spread the word http://www.facebook.com/pages/

Rocky/133667530034728 8:35 am, Wed 2 Mar
Would you happen to have another one of them that would
make a matching pair to fit into my favourite
over-shoulder-boulder-holder?
arthurdent2 (987 )
7:49 pm, Tue 1 Mar
my god....they must be huge....are you ok :-)
8:35 am, Wed 2 Mar
Nice baby photo. I bet that cute little fella went right off the Plunket growth chart!
andy9910 (3 )
7:50 pm, Tue 1 Mar
sure did, and broke the nurses knee
8:36 am, Wed 2 Mar
Maybe Rocky needs donating to our Black Caps I'm sure he
can teach them a thing or two on bowling, over or under :) Glad to read
that no one was hurt!
lisaworm (16 )
8:09 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Thanks Lisa - we are all okay and yes he would do well in the BC I think
8:36 am, Wed 2 Mar
Do you think he is a good enough rock to become a pillar
of the church? Know any good architects who could rock up a
church....as opposed to having the walls come crumbling down
rosie121 (21 )
8:17 pm, Tue 1 Mar
hmmmmm - might leave that one for a higher source
8:37 am, Wed 2 Mar
I havee a few questions about the rock (not the radio station).
does it come with a water feature? does it come with free delivery?
and one very important question: are you all ok?
chubs41 (42 )
8:26 pm, Tue 1 Mar
1. yes: my mains line that he went through, 2. nope - he
is roll on roll off, 3. yep we are all okay thanks very much
8:38 am, Wed 2 Mar
The old sheila has been nagging for years for a rock for
on her finger. Whenever I ask what kind of a rock she just says
anything so long as it is large. Maybe this is the answer. The colour
of it would match her skintone well. Do you think a gold or steel band
would set it off best?
jasperk (19 )
8:34 pm, Tue 1 Mar
mate - this is gold :-)
8:38 am, Wed 2 Mar
I reckon someone should contact Graham Henry and Mike
Cron. Maybe the All Blacks could do with a new scrum machine. After all
Rocky does bear a "striking" resemblance to the Boks front row.
malamute1 (170 )
8:35 pm, Tue 1 Mar
he has been offered a position in the Warratahs.....TODDY WHERE R U?????
8:39 am, Wed 2 Mar
very...he is sitting on mine as we speak
8:39 am, Wed 2 Mar
You say his favourite actor is Sly - surely it's Dwayne Johnson?!?
mattd_nz (33 )
8:37 pm, Tue 1 Mar
nah - he is a pussy
8:41 am, Wed 2 Mar
WOW! Just wondering if the Rockster has pedigree papers
and a family tree? Is he related to the royal family? F.A.B auction and I
am SURE the winning bidder will be estatic to add this to their prized
collection :o) I am sure there is an insurance company out there happy
to insure such a valuable artifact! Good luck with the auction, lots of
luck and love and hugs and positive vibes. XOXOXOXO
gidget13 (294 )
8:51 pm, Tue 1 Mar
thanks for this - yep he is 100% port hills volcanic
pedigree, some 65,000,000 years. Thanks for kisses and hugs I will pass
them on
8:42 am, Wed 2 Mar

kani5 (3 )
8:53 pm, Tue 1 Mar
Rock cakes?
8:43 am, Wed 2 Mar
Does Rocky have a good singing voice? From the look of
he has a good deep chest, and probably sings bass, although Pavarotti
had a similar figure and sang tenor. Perhaps he should be kept to sing
"Rock of Ages" when they rebuild the cathedral?
shannyrose (269 )
9:01 pm, Tue 1 Mar
he has a big booty as well, and he knows how to shake it
8:43 am, Wed 2 Mar
Well done Phil. As usual you are a true inspiration to
the rest of us. No doubt you will have a ball running the auction but I
bet it will seem hard when its all finished. Cheers, David L
djal1 (13 )

awwww - you are most welcome :-) Presume u r French...."vive les bleus" :-)
8:45 am, Wed 2 Mar
I've seen this rock before, he/she had a bit part in the
first Nasa moon landing, so is actually from Nevada. I suspect he/she
has been relocated by the CIA to hid its identity. It's all in the open
now though...especially at your place.
roadrunner70 (13 )
9:20 pm, Tue 1 Mar
ahhhh - a conspiracy theory..bout time we had one of them :-)
8:45 am, Wed 2 Mar
I see you sold a Iron bed head, base and surround and
happily delivered it across the city. Based on volume would you be
happy to deliver it a transport company?
tdw68 (2 )
9:22 pm, Tue 1 Mar
you stand down the bottom of my road and I'll roll him down to you
8:46 am, Wed 2 Mar

para001 (23 )

8:47 am, Wed 2 Mar
I've heard that rocky baby's most frequent bed time
lullaby requests were Rock-a-bye Baby and We Will Rock You. Rock on
buddy, this auction is rocktastic, best wishes for an extremely
successful auction and to you and yours.
moritz (101 )
9:38 pm, Tue 1 Mar

Rock-a-bye-baby on the hilltop, when the earth shakes
the boulder will rock, when the hill moves it rumbles some more, sending
poor Rocky onto your floor! I hope you're giving him lots of cuddles!
Well done, and good luck

8:49 am, Wed 2 Mar
Hmm awesome auction and LOVING your answers. What
happens though if Rocky is reluctant to leave you, it appears he has
adopted you to be his parents and claimed his own room. Hope he didn't
tread on any toes when he arrived!! If you want to come for a 'rockless'
drive to Rolleston we are more than happy to share a cold beer and
anything else you and your family require!! Glad you are all safe :)
chandra01 (384 )
9:47 pm, Tue 1 Mar
mmmmmmm beer :-). Thanks, quite happy to see him move on though
8:50 am, Wed 2 Mar
Was wondering if Rocky is any good at Nannying? We have a
three year old boy who could do with a sitter who is not easily pushed
around. Also, would Rocky happen to be related to Blarney? The do seem
to have similar features, maybe 2nd cousins?
(Have had a load of laughs reading through your auction. Would
definitely buy a fund-raiser Rocky-T for our young man if you go that
way. Wishing you and your family a safe and happy future. Kia Kaha)
normanator (118 )

At first when i saw this on facebook i thought OMG

8:50 am, Wed 2 Mar
I don't mean to be picky but do you have a permit for
the rock on your garage floor and was that gaping hole in the roof on
the plans. Have you had your LIM updated? Have you had the non-permeable
surface area recalculated? You know, you should really get all these
answer together before some plonker asks them for real!! What I did with
a bit of the Berlin wall was set it in acrylic and kept it as a
souvenir...there's a thought for ya. Anyone selling 50000L of acrylic on
Trade Me?

8:51 am, Wed 2 Mar
Good on yer mate, wonderful thing to do, feel sorry for
your fingers replying, just outa interest, does Rocky's mother know
where he is? He hasn't run away from home by any chance?
I used to live in the district where you are and every year the farmer
from the Scott family I think, had a drive/round up of all his sheep
from around Castle Rock and beyond, drove them around the hills above
the tunnel road and down the Bridle Path Road and up to his property in
Morgans Valley. Rocky misses them

9:09 am, Wed 2 Mar
Is he of an ignoramus or metamorphic origin? He looks
rather like a sedentary one to me, I've been watching the pic for three

9:11 am, Wed 2 Mar
Hi There, Do you think there is any possibility that
Rocky may have hidden talent as an instructor? I have a dog that is
digging holes in my yard but they are quite small in comparison to the
one I see Rocky dug prior to his retreat to the garage. I'd like to put
in a swimming pool. I figure if my dog could learn to make such a large
hole as fast as Rocky did, then I could have my pool, easy, by next
Summer.
BTW. I think Rocky is an out-doorsie type. Sure I saw him in Picnic at
Hanging Rock.
lesliegirl (11 )
1:15 am, Wed 2 Mar
just as long as he does not sit on your dog u will be fine...he nearly sat on our 11 year Lab!
9:12 am, Wed 2 Mar
Has Rocky ever considered entering politics? Would he consdier a career as a SE Asian dictator? Steve, Cambodia
trist020 (17 )
1:42 am, Wed 2 Mar
Well Steve....I reckon he is far to mellow for that :-)
9:13 am, Wed 2 Mar
What is the cost of up keep please? I don't want him
going through my fridge like he did with your house!! Is he single as we

9:24 am, Wed 2 Mar
Dear Phil, I assume you are acting as Rocky's agent.
We at Mastercard would like to use him in our latest ad. "Rocks for the
fishpond, $5, Stones for the fence, $1000... Your own pet rock in the
living room... Priceless. There are some things money can't buy... for
everything else, there is Mastercard"
PS. Love what you've done with the indoor outdoor flow - and that Rocky
is sure a chip off the old block!
kelzone (4 )
7:02 am, Wed 2 Mar
thanks.....and if the real mastercard is out there...LETS SEE YA CHECKBOOK :-)
9:14 am, Wed 2 Mar

Why didn't I think of this before? PETER JACKSON and
his Hobbit movie. Can you picture our boy decked out in makeup and being
fussed over by wardrope (my maiden name actually) He would be paid
Equity (?)rate, health ins. etc. Just think he would be up on the big
screen (all of it).
Just the residuals make me giddy. Rocky could stand in front of Peter
if the big honchos came from Hollywood with their hands out. Blarney
Stone has nothing on our Rocky! Stardom!!!!!
glesga (122 )
8:17 am, Wed 2 Mar
Well Peter knows him, he had a bit part in LOTR. PETER - WHERE ARE YOU?????

Hey, I can't get the Facebook link to work. What's the
name of the page? Also, I think people are serious about wanting to buy
bits of Rocky and pics with Rocky on other auctions. Have you thought
about listing them with buy nows so you can raise more for the

Who knew that 'Rock'ie and Roll could be so devastating
to your home? It has a lot to answer for, but nice to see Rockie and
roll has not been a dying artform... From our family here in Whangarei

luck with the auction and repairs to your home and lives! God Bless.

9:20 am, Wed 2 Mar
hi,
Would love to bid on Rocky...but I am a stickler for manners when it
comes to inviting myself over to anyones house. At the very least I
would try to phone ahead and..well..I'm sorry but this guy shows he has
no class whatsoever....

8:49 am, Wed 2 Mar
well he did make a fair bit of noise b4 he arrived
9:20 am, Wed 2 Mar
Did Rocky have his first break with the Nitty Gritty
Dirt Band? Didn't he originally sing "Country Roads, Take me Home"? He
was a support band for the Rolling Stones, I'm sure I've seen a poster
of Rocky with Mick. Good luck with the auction, it's a great idea and
fabulous to see such a great sense of humour!

AWW come on Rocky shouldn't be leaving the South, now
that he's made his mark it's obvious he's got to be next to the

Hi, I am needing exact measurements for this rock, I
notice no-one else seems to have checked this out but could be a big
problem if it doesn't fit into the landscaping properly!
Thought it would make a very nice present for my sister down there. Do
you think she would appreciate it?
Thanks, from an ex-one eyed born and bred cantabrian (currently living
in Auckland). Our thoughts are with you all down there.

thanks you loyal one eyed bugger :-) he is 2m high, 2 m wide and about 3.5m long....and he has a HUGE butt!
11:00 am, Wed 2 Mar
Any chance you or the winner could get the Top Gear team
to take it back up the hill and race it against its brothers back down
again? You could also auction who should stand in front of them as they
roll down. The Topp Twins? Mothers-in-law? Ken Ring and his 20 March
2011 eathquake theory?
And you could sell tickets. I'll be there, with beer and other
ammunition.
richardp2413 (88 )
10:59 am, Wed 2 Mar
no there is a thought - I love top Gear and they are
most welcome to race rocky down to the bottom of the valley!
11:01 am, Wed 2 Mar
Nigel Latta said to tell kids that earthquakes are when

Hi, I am interested in Rocky as an addition to my
surroundings. He would be good company - silent. But I'm concerned his

available space. Have you spotted his siblings hanging around the

Looks like a possible replacement. Cheers! Thanks for the smile -

Go that martini!!! Don't the called it Shagged Rock now?
4:27 pm, Wed 2 Mar
I don't know if I actually want to buy it, but from the
photograph I think I could probably take its north face without too much
trouble - any chance of an expedition 'in situ' instead of an actual
purchase? I can bring all my own gear.

4:30 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Is there any truth to the rumour that Rocky had, in
keeping with his rock star lifestyle, been partying and drinking heavily
in Lyttleton prior to "tripping and falling awkwardly" on his way home?
There are suggestions he got into a fight with several local stone
buildings after trying to get his rocks off with their girlfriends. One
took particular offence when Rocky claimed his girlfriend, an
interlocking stone paver, would be an easy lay! Has Rocky been tested
for communicable diseases?
trademedave (1 )
1:09 pm, Wed 2 Mar
not that I am aware of - to the best of my knowledge he
has given up the party seen since he was arrested for crack possession.

in and doesn't cause too much trouble once he's arrived. Do you think
59,999,40 years is too big an age difference? Will you be best man?
Could we do a deal with OK magazine for exclusive rights?
kiwiboz (120 )
1:40 pm, Wed 2 Mar
I would be honoured to be best man, but to be honest Rocky Boy has his sights set on Pammy!
4:34 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Are you going to auction pebble's in the pram, She looks alot like like rocky.
jul3 (122 )
1:44 pm, Wed 2 Mar
No - that was R when he was a baby!
4:34 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Hi, I'm Danny Boyle, director of the film '127 hours'.
For the sequel (127 hours 2) I will require a bigger rock than than in
the first film. Do you think this one would be suitable?
pleccy (41 )
1:51 pm, Wed 2 Mar
well he has my wife's painting jammed under him at the
moment so perhaps we could practice by cutting the frame off!
4:35 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Our office loves Rocky and your sense of yumour. Perhaps
you could put up some signed Rocky photographs as a side auction for
those a little less monied? Good luck with removing the surprise arrival
too. Hope everything comes right for you and your family.
padinski (118 )
1:56 pm, Wed 2 Mar
actually - that is a great idea. Will get on to it. Remember only buy OFFICIAL ROCKY MERCHANDISE TEAM!
4:36 pm, Wed 2 Mar
You sure are one very special dude, probably knackered
by answering all these questions.
A couple of ideas ... for what they are worth.
1. Get a couple of unemployed, but literate commedians to help answer
these thousands of questions. This auction is just starting to "rock and
rumble" and will surely continue to pick up momentum.
2. If Rocky is OK with the idea, have him installed at the ChCh Airport
and let all departures pay a special tax, to him
Good Luck
Ollie
anniemerle (21 )
2:12 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Cheers Ollie. How do you know that I am not already an unemployed semi literate comedian?
4:37 pm, Wed 2 Mar

of intellectual property rights.

Sue me Fred :-). Rocky is a runner and you know it!
4:38 pm, Wed 2 Mar
One thing to note about Rocky is that he doesn't stay
down for long and he will always get back up, so you best spend your
time with him wisely before he leaves as i didn't hear no bell.
invisibleman (86 )
2:14 pm, Wed 2 Mar
you got it bud. R sends you a left jab for your troubles.
4:39 pm, Wed 2 Mar

4:48 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Has anyone thought of how Rocky might be feeling? he's
been ripped from his life! He may have been about to eat his rockfood
sammy (I won't even pretend to imagine how complex his diet must've been
to have built that kind of bulk). Has he eaten since the quake?
I bet he was used to being completely outdoors and now he's trapped in a
tiny space & treated like an indoor rock. He needs space! Get that
whole roof off or he may suffocate. Someone pls help him!
(our love to Rocky AND you BTW. ;-)
mereand (165 )
2:45 pm, Wed 2 Mar
fair call - I have been approached by the SPCR and they
are indeed concerned. I have also had some farmer wanting to breed from
him. So his future looks more solid than mine - thats for sure :-)
4:50 pm, Wed 2 Mar
LOL ROFL priceless! Laugh in the face of adversity, this
is what makes NZ sooo awesome!!! Have shared this on Facebook, hope it
helps ;-D Lots of love from Welly xx Good luck guys!

Thanks you awesome Welly folks :-) We are all Kiwi's and your support rocks :-)
4:50 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Hi
I have noticed Rocky has become very popular. Do you have security
measures in place? I could would be very upsetting for you if he was
stolen!
Kind regards

simonthomas (2 )

Is that the Mr Concerned Citizen from 20m away from my
office? Please rest assured that R has his own security detail waiting
above our house.
4:52 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Hi Phil, thanks for finding our other bookend ,we lost
one last time we moved. It was part of a matched set & one just did
not look right sitting on the mantlepiece by it's self & the books
get so messy, I mean just look at your place. Shame we have disposed of
it's mate (broken up for our drive) as you could have trebled the money
for a matched pair, more beers when up this way.. John

you are fabulous.. im glad your sense of humour is
intact in such a gloom time.. its good to see you are doing your part
both for departure of rocky and also as a method of clearing from your
home, making money that will be helpful to the christchurch public..
this is such a great idea.. i hope that rocky is happy where he
finalises his journey.. clearly, he was not very happy last week...
rozeuz (290 )
3:20 pm, Wed 2 Mar
thanks heaps :-). He has a lot of offers, from stud
through to movies. Don't tell anyone but he has been offered a ROLL in
a series called THREE AND A HALF ROCKS!
4:54 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Hi, Is he Mirco-Chipper & Fixed?
Is he house trained?
Do you have a collar for him etc.
Cheers
timaru2009 (65 )
3:32 pm, Wed 2 Mar
heavily chipped, house trained but needs BIG litter box and he does not need a collar :-)
4:55 pm, Wed 2 Mar
sure :-)
4:55 pm, Wed 2 Mar
What is your reason for selling? Are you upgrading or just ready for a change?
goodsman1 (64 )
3:47 pm, Wed 2 Mar
well I guess I'm not really selling - its more of an agent and runaway rock star gig now.
4:56 pm, Wed 2 Mar
I forgot to ask, is Rocky high maintenance? I'd hate to have to take it out all the time.
goodsman1 (64 )
3:49 pm, Wed 2 Mar
sure is sorry
4:56 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Kia ora. I'm the treasurer for the EMBFEG (Emancipate
Meandering Boulders from Enslavement) and would like to inform you that
selling a wild boulder into slavery will have result in myriad
psychological problems for the afore-mentioned individual. As a society
with much experience in similar situations we would advise that you
should quietly approach the subject and say 'shoo' while swinging both
arms, palms out, away from your body. Be patient, the subject just wants
to be loved.
cousinbox (71 )
4:27 pm, Wed 2 Mar
ah - I was wondering when you guys would pop up. Now
listen here Rocky is FREE ROCK, the fact I am going to make a wedge of
cash from exploiting him has nothing to do with his freedom or sense of
abandonment OK!
4:59 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Have set Rocky up his own fan page on facebook!! Will
add you as an admin if you like Phil. Hope this helps raise some more
funds and spread the cheer. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Brows

5:04 pm, Wed 2 Mar
$20 billion is the rebuild cost for ChCh - I'd take a donation of your choice to the fund :-)
5:05 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Hi there I have actually met his
great-great-grandparents Gibraltar and Stonehenge - very nice couple! I
was very surprised to see Rocky behave like this as Gib and Stonehenge
wouldn't dream of rolling around in such an unseemly manner! Teenagers!
Seriously, well done on the auction and good luck with moving that
beast!
chutney (2021 )
5:05 pm, Wed 2 Mar
thanks chutney...glad someone appreciates his heritage
5:07 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Do you have Superman's phone number? might be handy when
removal company needed. On second thoughts, maybe Rocky contains
Kriptonite? In which case might need another super hero to help!
willgeddes (11 )
5:07 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Rocky is a BIG fan of Spiderman
6:08 pm, Wed 2 Mar
You wish :-)
6:09 pm, Wed 2 Mar
What's photo 2? Is that where Rocky bounced on his way in? Or did he start there and get thrown up from there?
apinchin (50 )
5:12 pm, Wed 2 Mar
bounced on his way in - he came from waaaay up in the hills
6:09 pm, Wed 2 Mar
After this you will certainly be a sought after comedian and story teller. Keep rockin on mate!!

ddcatz (10 )
5:22 pm, Wed 2 Mar
thanks bud.....I hope u win lotto
6:11 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Are you sure he's not a HUGE fan of Bill Haley? That
old song "Rock around the Clock" was a BIG number he loved to rock to
and I think he got so shook up he couldn't wait for the clock to strike
one and just rolled down to your place to jam with you! Thinking of you
all, hope it doesn't take too long to get some sort of normality back
into your lives.
chat3 (77 )
5:23 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Will take years to get back to normal, but we have all
of you guys backing us - human spirit always beats adversity
6:13 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Two serious questions.1) Is the rock ticking? (Current
world terrorist threats...) 2) Did you actually see the rock roll into
you garage or could it have come up thru the floor? 3) Does it glow at
night? (Thinking maybe Alien XII:Return of the Flesh Eating Rocks) 4)Are
there giant footprints in your garden? This would indicate an unknown
and potentially disturbing origin) 5)Do your fingers need to relax?

6:14 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Wonder if he would like to roll up to our Hard Rock Cafe
for a rockit salad followed by a rock cake? Thinking of all Catabs and
wish them well.
korucat (167 )
5:44 pm, Wed 2 Mar
thanks mate - yes Hard Rock is his FAV cafe!
6:15 pm, Wed 2 Mar
It's nice to see someone look on the bright side in a..
erm, awkward situation. I wish u all the best with this and hope Rocky
finds a great new home!
alliyah (3 )
5:49 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Thanks for that....oh and the awkward bit....we just lit cigarettes :-)
6:16 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Hi Phil,
How do you know that Rocky is male I think he is female as waman do
unexpected things (like coming through your garage. The reason I go for
the female theroy is that he was obvioulsy spawned from "Mother
Earth"
One of the best auctions I have ever seen - Joan
jackt3 (12 )
5:52 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Thanx Joan. Trust me - he's a male.....big, lazy,
uncommunicative, unannounced, all about him and he has got the
remote....what more do I need to say!
6:17 pm, Wed 2 Mar
You say he was a rock star, can he play "You shook me all night long"?
ryan_oceros (40 )
5:59 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Of course.....BUT I never said he was a rock star of the musical type
6:18 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Rocky doesn't live here anymore.....
6:18 pm, Wed 2 Mar
good on ya buddy yr great nature and humor will come back at ya ten fold. good luck.
jax16 (28 )
6:05 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Fanx Jax ;-)
6:19 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Is Rocky single, divorced, defacto, bi-curious of gay??
Its just that if he's on the dating scene I know a sheila, aka Ruby aka
Rockette whom may be very interested in a possible relationship with
this fine chap....
raki5 (17 )
6:19 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Single, Straight (although I have my suspicions about bi-curious)....he is a HUGE Pammy fan though :-)
6:21 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Was anyone at home when Rocky made his "uninvited"
entrance? At least he has a reasonable aim for a bloke..... could've
missed the garage and come in via a bedroom, lounge, or the kitchen hey!
greenybev (29 )
6:21 pm, Wed 2 Mar
For sure...Luckily there was no one home...else I
probably would not be seeing the funny side of this...thanks for your
support.
6:22 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Nope - hard work...but this is therapy for me and it would seem many others :-)
6:24 pm, Wed 2 Mar
I wonder how Rocky feels with all of this questioning of
his gender? They do say people who live in wooden houses shouldn't
throw boulders. On that note, I wouldn't condone throwing Rocky. Unless
you were thinking of making the house more open plan
harrychampion (19 )
6:25 pm, Wed 2 Mar
its pretty open plan already Harry. I sure as hell know he is a bloke!
6:26 pm, Wed 2 Mar
What a shame it wasn't on video... you could have just
put iton rewind, love to see that sucker head back up the hill!!!! good
luck with the auction, what a brilliant idea - RISE UP CHRISTCURCH !
liz48 (135 )
6:28 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Hell yes - I would love to see him head back up the hill as well!!!
6:31 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Great to see you having a bit of fun! You guys ROCK -
please know that lots of us in Auckland wish we could do some practical
stuff to help you all out. Just a thought, you have Bear Grylls (that
mad survival guy who eats bugs) in town .... wonder what his advice
would be! Rocky goes international. Tears and prayers and hugs to you
all.
bgtm (40 )
6:38 pm, Wed 2 Mar
thanks for your support - reckon his advise would be "don't stand in front of that big boy" :-)
9:06 pm, Wed 2 Mar
obviously not :-)
9:08 pm, Wed 2 Mar
yep - a fejoa :-)
9:07 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Phil - fellow rock collector!! but I think your Rocky
has a Narcisstic Personality issue! Its all about him, so don't think he
would mingle with my menial garden rocks very well! awesome some are
bidding, glad you have a good sense of humour!! it helps eh. Rock on!
jellicat (25 )
6:56 pm, Wed 2 Mar
thanks mate :-)
9:09 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Well done, keep up the good work. I think sense of humor may be returning to many people after seeing this.
happymum3 (165 )
6:57 pm, Wed 2 Mar
thanks - it is sure helping me
9:09 pm, Wed 2 Mar
I recently saw a documentary on the life of Rocky. He
came from a` broken family, his mother was a real crack head, totally
broken up and went to peices. This made Rocky a transient. He really
went downhill and forced his way into peoples lives. He had a real
temper and would go on damage rampages. But in the right enviroment he
could be very stable and supportive, someone to really lean on! - Keep
life going in the positive direction! Thoughts to you ;-)
oreocat (18 )
7:02 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Nice words - thanks
9:11 pm, Wed 2 Mar
There once was a boulder called Rocky, whose entrance
was awfully shocky, he came through the wall, in the hallway did stall,
now sits in the midst acting cocky.
Let's keep those bids coming!
riskfish (54 )
7:10 pm, Wed 2 Mar
wicked - please keep the poems coming :-)
9:12 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Please some one buy it and dump it on the front door of

7:19 pm, Wed 2 Mar
its a big front door in the beehive...maybe we need a bigger rock!
9:12 pm, Wed 2 Mar
cheers antz
9:13 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Seeing as I currently live in Orlando, Florida, can I be
assured that Rocky will pack his own bags and won't be carrying illegal
substances on his arrival? Great to see such an awesome idea for a
fundraiser! Kia Kaha Christchurch!
otago_debs (7 )
7:29 pm, Wed 2 Mar
thanks debs....he was a crack head...but no more
9:14 pm, Wed 2 Mar
You must be so pleased it's a boy because a female would
come with the additional costs of over-shoulder-boulder-holders to fork
out for.

9:14 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Fantastic idea guys. Wish you all the best with the

9:15 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Does Rocky know any tricks, other than sit and stay? I
had a pet rock once, we took it swimming ..........but it drowned :-(
sargentp (30 )
7:48 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Rocky hates water...
9:16 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Seeing the Divot left by Rocky, i would say he was not

9:18 pm, Wed 2 Mar

I am sure that Rocky could not have done all that damage
by himself! Harrison Ford was spotted rushing along ahead of him so
maybe you could see if he would like to come and collect him and return
him to his home in LA. Go all you Cantabs!

9:27 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Hi Guys - what a great rock would love it but cost of
freight to Norfolk Island could be a bit much. I have watched the TV
and wondered how I could help. Guess what!! - I have set up a new
cliff-top accommodation which rents for up to $700 per night called
"Rocky Point Lodge" on Norfolk Island, seems like karma - my way of
helping would be to offer one weeks free accommodation for 4 people for
either yourselves or to go with your auction. Contact me for photos or
confirm if would like to use.

hallway....

9:39 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Hey mate not sure if it will fit where I want it do you

yep - that was shortly after arrival - I think he had a sore butt after the landing
9:44 pm, Wed 2 Mar
I think that you should pitch Rocky to Placemakers for a
tour around all of their New Zealand branches as a Chch earthquake
fundraiser. Rocky clearly has an uncanny ability as an (Un)PlaceMaker
and there is an obvious link between Rocky's recent activities and
Placemakers home handman supply business - especially in the
Christchurch area for the forseeable future.

Hello Phil, Did Rocky clean out the beer fridge on his
way through the garage ?? You guys had a great plug on Newstalk ZB
today - greatstuff - All the best Cheers

you will be glad to know he missed the beer fridge - got one of the kids bikes though
9:50 pm, Wed 2 Mar
I invited Rocky to be my friend on facebook, but he has
ignored my request. Has this all gone to his head and he's forgotten the
little people?
brightyellow (76 )
9:17 pm, Wed 2 Mar
SORRY...man juggling too many tasks :-)
9:52 pm, Wed 2 Mar
My quick study of trajectory and velocity suggest
Rocky’s origin is Third Rock From The Sun. Clearly Rocky had a parting
of his ways from Mother Earth. Please don’t think I’m Batty but I’d say
Rocky got a warm fuzzy as he dropped in on your lovely home. Rocky
clearly mistook the pink stuff for Rockwool. Talk about pulling the wool
over one’s eyes: Try insulating with a higher R value to keep more out.
Seriously, Best wishes and intentions for you & Christchurch.

carbon fibre and kevlar roof lining you reckon :-)

We have really enjoyed reading your auction details and
the questions and answers, it's created a lot of laughs during a sad
time. You should get all this published, along with photos of the Rock
Star - we would be willing to pay good money for such a book! Great
auction :-)

Hi Phil,
Couple of questions about Rocky.
Does he have a long term partner or is he likely to be bringing lots of 'friends' home with him.
Also, is he slimmer on one side or will I need to widen the door frames??
Does he have any pets?
Does he smoke or did he give up 64 million years ago??
Cheers
lipswelshkiwi (111 )
9:21 pm, Wed 2 Mar
a couple!!! :-) no partner (but a queue is forming),
nope he is round, round, round, no pets and he smoked just the once on
the way out of the lyttelton volcano :-)
9:57 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Finally The Rock has come home.
Hope your auction goes well and keep up the sense of humour Its people
like you who came up with the phrase for the million dollar man "we will
rebuild bigger and better""

From one cantab to another, thank you so much! I have
not lost nearly as much as you, but I am home with 2 young kids while my
husband is deployed overseas with the army (that man has missed both
quakes now!!) and your answers are what keep me smiling at night. Thanks
so much, you are doing an awesome job and I wish you all the best for
when you are able to rebuild :) Kia Kaha

10:01 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Now was Rocky born in a tent???? You would think he'd
close the door behind him to stop the drafts coming in. What a fantastic
Auction goodluck, we are in the central north island what an awesome
tourist feature he would be beside the Ohakune carrot or the Hunterville
Hunterway dog statue....

live in it...even if they do bitch at each other occasionally :-)
10:04 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Hi Phil, you could probably shoot Rocky if he was
looting your place, but to sell him just cause he's trespassing
Good luck with your auction.

When are you interviewing for the position of Rocky's
PA?Can i apply? This is a stunning auction mate, only wish i could afford

fordster6 (37 )
9:59 pm, Wed 2 Mar
thanks fordster...am thinking of photos or teeshirts at a
low cost to raise some dosh - but have a business to run at the same
time...will see what I can do. anyone want to help?
10:20 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Looks to me as if Rocky was just about over the hill
before Tuesday, hell he must have been lonely perched up there. Who can
blame the guy for coming off his pedastal to find some comapny, re live
his glory days and maybe even hit the headlines again? Shame he didn't
just knock on the front door rather than crash in on you guys. He's
very lucky to have found an agent like you, inspirational stuff, keep it
up.
skiti (49 )
10:00 pm, Wed 2 Mar
trust me he is just ONE BIG SHOW PONY
10:21 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Enough already - has any one thought if Rocky is old
enough to handle all this sudden fame. It could all go to his head with
dire consequences. I hope that you have already taken the appropiate
steps to provide him with a manager - preferable one who is wordly wise
Jack
jackt3 (12 )
10:08 pm, Wed 2 Mar
manager....that would be me...every rising star needs a parasite you know :-)
10:22 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Heathcliff looks a little "bluff" for our section, but great concept!
Well done for keeping a brave "face" when many would have "scarp"ered.
ALL THE BEST WITH THE AUCTION!!!
gpwallis (488 )
10:15 pm, Wed 2 Mar
cheers. he things he is quite bluff as well!
10:23 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Hey! Are you sure he survived the fall? Looks as dead as a pet rock to me!!
npg (29 )
10:18 pm, Wed 2 Mar
he's not dead he's just resting you know :-)
10:24 pm, Wed 2 Mar
I hear he's quit acting and gone back to WWF Wrestling??
IF YA' SMELLLLLLLLLLLLL.....WHAT THE ROCK.....IS COOKING!!!
honey_bunz (139 )
10:18 pm, Wed 2 Mar

10:25 pm, Wed 2 Mar
OMG Phil.
I just had another look at the photos especially the one of the hill.
I hope Rocky doesnt get lonely and asks the rest of the family to join
him.You are very lucky it was only one and nobody was home at the time
mber2 (124 )
10:21 pm, Wed 2 Mar
funny you should mention that.. I went for a walk up the
back before they kicked us out and there are some MASSIVE siblings
hanging around up there. So it may be a while before we can go in to
feed him!!
10:26 pm, Wed 2 Mar
I see you allow pick-ups? Might take the "incrediBro hulk' for that task....
macleesy (10 )
10:33 pm, Wed 2 Mar

10:41 pm, Wed 2 Mar
Absolutely ripper auction. Love the pictures. Don't
happen to have a grand to spare right now, but good luck with the
fundraising, and dealing with the aftermath of Rocky. Try set your
sights a bit lower when befriending our hospitable inanimate companions
in the future.
